Lock your files with Face ID or Touch ID

Anyone holding your phone can open Photos. With the My Files lock they need your face or fingerprint — and even turning the lock off requires authentication.

Face ID lock — Raheeb

What is this feature?

Not everything you download is for public viewing. With the My Files lock on, the app draws an opaque cover over the contents of My Files and lifts it only after Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode.

Authentication lasts one session: as soon as the app goes to the background, the lock returns. More importantly, turning the lock off also requires authentication, so someone holding your unlocked phone cannot simply switch it off. If your device has no passcode at all, the lock stays open because there is nothing for it to rest on.

Face ID or Touch ID

Or the device passcode when biometrics aren't available.

Re-locks every time

One session per authentication; backgrounding re-locks it.

Turning it off is protected

Nobody disables the lock but you.
